Behavior By Design is a family oriented dog training business offering a wide range of services (including pet sitting and dog walking) in the Central Florida area. We're based in Kissimmee, and also serve the St. Cloud, Orlando, and surrounding metro areas. We work with families and individuals to bring out the best in their pets through manners & obedience training, behavior consultation and pet care services. Our methods are based on the scientific study of how animals learn & behave, and are primarily reward based (positive reinforcement), using what's known as "clicker training". What this means is that we’ll focus on what we want the dog to do, using things they find rewarding (such as treats, praise, toys/play, etc.), rather than using force, coercion or punishment for behavior we don’t want. (Check out the Q & A section for more information regarding clicker training, positive reinforcement and using punishment in training.)
These methods have been tested and honed over the last few decades by pre-eminent behaviorists & trainers working not only with companion animals such as dogs, cats and birds, but also with large and potentially dangerous wild animals such as dolphins, whales, jungle cats and wolves, which don't respond well to punishment and force. In this way, we foster a trusting relationship with our pets and create a willingness and zest for learning, coupled with methods that the entire family (children included) can use.
